The Homestead is located at the heart of The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in scenic Leelanau County. It is the only luxury resort in the region to offer a wide-range of world-class amenities, including a spa, a salon, fine dining, and venues for weddings, reunions, and meeting, as well as a broad range of hotel or condominium of accommodations

Where is the resort located?

It is about 26 miles west of Traverse City at Glen Arbor, Michigan. GPS Coordinates are: Latitude 44.9134 or 44 degrees 54.8 minutes North. Longitude -85.9645 or -85 degrees 57.87 minutes West

Is air service available?

Yes, American, Delta and United offer flights to and from the Cherry Capital Airport at Traverse City. Schedules vary with the seasons. The airport is about 33 miles from the resort. The drive will take the better part of an hour. Rental cars are available as are cabs and shuttles.

Manistee Blacker Airport also offers public charters direct to and from Chicago Midway.  Schedules vary with the seasons.  The airport is about 53 miles from the resort.  The drive will take approximately an hour and a half. Rental cars are available.

What types of accommodations are there?

Four unique resort hotels and a wide range of privately-owned condominiums and homes are located in distinctly different neighborhoods that are separated by nature, from the waterfront to forest glades. Visit Lodging.

Does the resort have pet-friendly accommodations?

Yes. A limited number of rooms at Fiddler’s Pond are pet-friendly.

What is your deposit policy?

A deposit of one night’s stay is required. If a reservation is canceled at least 28 days before the arrival date, the deposit, less a $50 service fee, will be refunded. If a reservation is canceled less than 28 days before arrival, the deposit would be forfeited. However, you may keep your full deposit with us for up to two years from first booking and apply it to a future stay with no penalty. If not used within two years, the deposit will be forfeited.

For long-term rentals (a reservation for 14 or more nights), a deposit of 25% of the stay is required.  If the reservation is canceled less than 60 days before arrival, the deposit would be forfeited.  If the reservation is shortened within 60 days, the guest is responsible for 50% of the unsold nights.  

What types of payment do you accept?

American Express, Discover, Master Card, Visa, traveler’s checks and cash are all accepted.

How do I reserve online?

It is easy. Visit the Lodging section, review the choices, make your selection and enter it with your arrival and departure dates. If you are a part of a group meeting or reunion you will also need to enter your group code. If you prefer, you can also reach a booking agent for personal service at 231.334.5100.

Will my online reservation be secure?

Yes. We respect your privacy. We do not authorize any other use of your confidential information. For more information, please view our Privacy Policy.

Can my online reservation be changed?

Yes. To do so, call 231.334.5100 and an agent will assist you.

What are your check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is after 5:00 pm, check-out is 11:00 am. Guests who arrive early are welcome to use the resort's recreational facilities.

Who do I call to learn more about a wedding, reunion or meeting?

How can I purchase a gift card?

Fill out a Homestead Gift Certificate order form and email it to info@thehomesteadresort.com or fax it to 231.334.5113. or call 231.334.5100.

What can gift cards be used for?

Gift cards can be used for any service or product offered at the resort.

What can I do if I lost something during my visit?

Please fill out the Lost & Found form and send it to us.

What about renting from others?

The Homestead owns and operates all of the amenities at the resort and provides virtually all services. Its guests use the same to have the best possible vacation experience. Those who rent directly from a condominium owner or independent agent do not have and cannot purchase those benefits or that experience and will find that the independent agents do not provide services, including emergency services, after 5:00pm or before 8:00am.
