Recreate

In many ways, little has changed since the Ojibway named this area “Leelanau,” meaning “land of delight.”  You’ll find that the pace is still relaxed. The lifestyle is still casual. The beaches are still wide, the bay and dunes are still spectacular. The activities – some relaxed, some intense – are still many.

What makes many of the activities unique is our setting.  You simply won’t find the beaches, dunes, river and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore anywhere else, and whether you choose to enjoy them while swimming, walking, hiking, climbing, riding, fishing, kayaking, or sightseeing, they are guaranteed to make your stay memorable. Together they are a living laboratory for birding, wildlife sighting and all manners of nature walks, including dark skies and northern lights.

If you want more adventure, why not try hang gliding, kite surfing and scuba diving in the summer or skiing, riding or snowshoeing in the winter. Click on the list to explore your choices.
