Arriving by Air

The Homestead is located at Glen Arbor about 26 miles to the west of Traverse City, Michigan. Depending on the season, travelers would fly on American or Northwest from New York, Detroit, Chicago or Minneapolis to Traverse City. Commercial shuttle service and rental cars are available at the airport which is about 45 minutes from the resort. The resort does not provide its own shuttle service.

Arriving by Car

Travel times from the major cites in the Great Lakes region are shown on the table. We suggest picking the best route from your point of origin to Traverse City. Once there, take the Grandview Parkway (M 31 and M 37) north to Traverse Highway (M 72) and turn left toward Empire.

From Traverse City
Stay on Traverse Highway (M 72) for approximately 14 miles until the road curves sharply to the right and heads due north. Continue on M 72 for about a mile until the road makes a 90 degree turn to the left. Instead of turning, go straight, following County Road (CR) 669. Travel on CR 669 until it ends at a stop sign at CR 616 (about 3.4 miles). Turn left on CR 616. Travel about 2.6 miles until it ends at S Dunns Farm Road (CR 675). Turn right on CR 675. Follow CR 675 along Big Glen Lake (on your left), until you get to Westman Road (about 4.5 miles). Turn right on Westman Road. Follow Westman until it ends at M 22 (about .6 mile). You’ll see the main entrance to The Homestead on M 22 to your left.

From Empire
Stay on M 22 through the town of Empire; approximately 2 miles north turn left on M 109. Follow M 109 & sign for the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive towards Glen Haven. Turn right at the intersection of M 109 and M 209 to follow M 109 into Glen Arbor (approximately 2 miles). M 109 ends, take M 22 North through the intersection in Glen Arbor. The Homestead’s entrance is two miles north of Glen Arbor on the left side of the road.
