The Homestead Announces Winter Cooking Class Schedule
The Homestead has announced its Winter 2012 schedule for cooking classes at Nonna’s Loft – a 900-square foot cooking school facility. Executive Chef John Piombo will lead hands-on instruction using fresh, local ingredients. Classes are being offered to both resort guests and the general public, starting in early January and running through early March.

The Homestead's Spa Amira Participates in the Northern MI Spa Tour to Benefit Habitat for Humanity
The Homestead has banded together with nine other Northern Michigan spas to support
Habitat for Humanity's Northern Michigan Chapters through a showing of Dr. Wayne Dyer's movie, The Shift. The fundraising event occurs on Monday, September 19 at the City Opera House in downtown Traverse City.
In addition, Northern Michigan Spa Tour is hosting a week of fundraising from October 3 to October 9, 2011. The Homestead's Spa Amira along with nine other Northern Michigan spas will donate $10 from each 50-minute or longer spa service to Habitat for Humanity.

ABC's Good Morning America Declares Sleeping Bear Dunes the "Most Beautiful Place in America"
After viewer votes were tabulated, roughly four million watched last Wednesday when ABC's top morning show, Good Morning America, crowned the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore "The Most Beautiful Place in America." "To be singled out is an incredible honor, especially when you consider the competition," says Sleeping Bear Dunes Visitors Bureau spokesperson Jamie Jewell.

The Homestead Hosts Winemaker Dinner Featuring Maculan Wines from Italy
It is not often that a winemaker from Italy travels to Leelanau County to be on hand to interact with dinner guests, but on September 26, 2011, Angela Maculan of Maculan Estate Winery will be at The Homestead to do just that. Guests will experience exemplary Italian wines from Maculan paired with gourmet food prepared by The Homestead's Executive Chef John Piombo. The winemaker chose five distinct wines to serve at each of the five dinner courses.

Mountain Flowers, The Homestead's private Par 3, nine hole golf course will be open to the public for this special event. Wings of Wonder Screech Owl Release at The Homestead
The Homestead and Wings of Wonder invite you to a raptor release on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at the resort's Camp Tam-A-Rack outdoor amphitheatre. Wings of Wonder will have two young eastern screech owls ready for release to a natural habitat. Rebecca Lessard, Executive Director of Wings of Wonder, will present a program called "The Wonders of Raptors" from 7-8pm which is free and open to the community. The owl release will happen right after the program.

Wings of Wonder Program Offered Free to Homestead Guests
Guests and club members at The Homestead will be treated to a series of free nature-based programs this summer with The Wonders of Raptors by Rebecca Lessard of Wings of Wonder. The programs will be offered in the Camp Tamarack amphitheatre. Lessard will present a one-hour program that includes a basic introduction to Michigan raptors.

Without question, the most scenic locale for an outdoor summer concert is the top of Bay Mountain at The Homestead - a resort in the heart of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The 2011 Sounds of Sleeping Bear Series features three nights of unique entertainment set against the backdrop of Lake Michigan, Sleeping Bear Bay and the Manitou Islands to the west and Glen Lake to the east. A special July 28 concert with the Blackthorn Celtic Quartet will also be held in conjunction with the Glen Arbor Art Association’s, Manitou Music festival.
