Shopping in the Area
Small towns and local villages throughout Leelanau and Grand Traverse counties offer charming shopping in lakefront communities. You’ll find everything from bookstores to greenhouses, boutiques to galleries. Studded throughout the countryside, you’ll find vineyards, antique dealers, and farm stands.
Just a few minutes from The Homestead, is the small town of Glen Arbor, where you can pick up a new skirt, sporting goods, or some beach reading. Further to the south and the west, you’ll find Empire and Frankfort, two sleepy Michigan towns with some hidden gems. To the north of The Homestead, is Leland, Suttons Bay, and Northport– all great places to spend a rainy day picking up a new sweater or choosing a new piece of art.
Traverse City, about 45 minutes east of Glen Arbor, boasts both a range of charming local businesses as well as the widest variety of groceries, pharmacies, and convenience stores in the area.
