Everyone is enjoying the incredible fall we’ve had this year in northern Michigan. Warm temperatures, sunny skies, calm winds and stunning color have made this a remarkable fall season. Letting go of the warmth of fall to ponder a cold, snowy season may be hard for some, but skiers, snowboarders and snowmobilers are already thinking snow. Resorts are putting away the golf clubs and polishing the ski rental equipment. At The Homestead, we have a pair of skis on the wall in our Reception Center with a daily countdown to opening day. This is a perfect time to take advantage of pre-season ski pass deals at all the area ski resorts. Now is also the time to watch for sales on used ski equipment.*
During the ski season daily lift ticket prices at Michigan ski areas can range from $25 for a junior lift ticket to $55 for an adult day ticket. For those who ski regularly, taking advantage of resort ski passes makes perfect sense. Purchasing a season pass in October or November will save money over purchasing a pass in December or January or paying a daily lift-ticket price.
The Homestead Ski Resort Season Pass
Pre-season ski passes are already available at a discount through The Homestead. The earlier a pass is purchased, the lower its cost. For example, an individual can purchase an unlimited season pass for $150 in October, $170 in November and $200 in December. There are also season passes for juniors, Sunday-only skiers, and for families. There are special meal deals available too. Anyone who purchases a pre-season pass by the end of November is eligible to purchase 10 meal specials for as little as $39. No need to hassle with packing a lunch when CQ’s Cabin has a great selection of hot, nutritious food available when you are ready for a break from the slopes.
Michigan White Gold Card – Ski for Less Than $10 a Day
Do you like to vary your ski locations and save money at the same time? If so, there is an amazing deal through the Michigan Snowsports Industries Association (MSIA). With a Michigan White Gold Card a skier has the option of visiting 29 different ski areas for only $189. Depending on the number of ski areas a skier visits, saving can be enormous. Anyone who skis all 29 ski areas will pay only $6.50 per day. Even if a skier visits only half the participating ski areas, the cost is less than $15 a day.
Card holders also receive one free ski tune-up which includes edge sharpening and waxing. Skiers may ski one time at each participating ski area during the 2010/2011 ski season. Anyone who visits all 29 ski areas is eligible to win a free season pass for the 2011/2012 ski season. There are only 400 White Gold Cards available for sale so skiers should purchase as early as possible.
Weather forecasters and the Farmers Almanac predict a cold snowy 2010/2011 season. That is good news for area ski resorts and snow sports enthusiasts.
